Church History

My wife Padma and I, Dr. Simon Narayan received the call of God to plant a church on the 14th of April 1991. At the time we were members of Bethany Assembly Of God Church, based at Grantham Road, Suva. The church was established at 6 Gagali place, Nakasi at our residence. The church remained at the residence for ten years. At the time of the call as the pastor I was employed as a National Sales Manager at Ricoh Fiji.

The church was established under the name of Ebenezer Assembly of God, as a sister church of Assembly of God First Church, located at Anand Street, Suva. We were under the guidance of Rev. Joseph Whippy. We remained under that banner till 2008 when we severed our ties with Assemblies of God and registered the church under the name of Ebenezer Tabernacle.

In 2001 the church moved to its current location at Lot 55 Kings Road, Nakasi. This property was acquired at a cost of F$50,000.00, which had a two bedroom wooden dwelling.

In January 2011, I Dr. Simon Narayan took a full time position under the guidance and leadership of the Holy Spirit. From then on the church has experienced a phenomenal growth in new churches being planted and souls getting saved.

In the year 2012 the church was restructured and registered  as Ebenezer Global Ministries under the charitable trust to cater for the growing demand as churches being planted around the globe.

Nearing the end of 2017 we had established some thirty one churches around the world (12 x India, 1 x Australia, 1 x New Zealand, 1 x USA, 1 x Tonga and in 15 x Fiji).

Having had a wide management experience I served on some senior executive positions of various organisation’s, employed as CEO of Fiji Shipping Corporation and Bligh Water Shipping Ltd, COO of Fiji Red Cross Society and GM of Sullivan Shipping Ltd, Remington Business Systems and Mickemps Marketing Ltd. I had a great opportunity to be a part-time tutor at the University of Southern Queensland for two years, teaching the (undergrad and post grad students).

I obtained my first and second degree in Management and an MBA from Central Queensland University (CQU) Australia. Ten years latter I received a scholarship to complete my Doctor of Philosophy (Phd) from International Institute of Church Management, Florida, USA.

As a philosopher, pastor, teacher and administrator, I believe God has equipped me to lead, guide and mentor leaders who needs direction in life and ministry. There are lot of leaders who has the capability and capacity to manage people, but I believe God is looking for people who are zealous to be trailblazers. Those who are visionaries, full of determination to cut through obstacles and barriers. We need to be leaners who learn from our experiences and are open-mindedness to admit that I need more teaching because I don’t know it all. As a trailblazer we need the power to lift our team by encouraging them to challenge status quo and take risks.

Covid was an eye opener as to seeing the call of God upon the Pastors? Were they really called or were they hirelings? Those that were only waiting for their monthly allowance left and of-course due to disciplinary cases we had to let go so many so called pastors. Upholding righteousness is the key component of Pastors and Leaders.

In the year 2024, the Lord blessed My wife and I in witnessing the call of God upon my two sons as they adhered to the call of God upon their lives and serve God as Pastors of our two campuses in Nakasi and Nadi. Dr. Emmanuel Narayan and his wife Asilika Rogers look after our Nadi Campus whilst Simon Narayn Jnr and his wife Dr. Charmaine Kwan look after the Nakasi Campus. Under my guidance and leadership they are holding the fort well. I believe as years go by they will mature in their responsibilities and showcase their leadership traits.
